Mexican Legacy Dance Company is a passionate and vibrant dance group dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich cultural heritage of Mexico through traditional folklórico performances. Our mission is to connect communities by showcasing the diverse and colorful traditions of Mexican music, dance, and costumes, creating a bridge between Canada and Mexico.

Founded with the belief that the beauty of Mexican folklore should be experienced by people around the world, Mexican Legacy celebrates the history of traditional Mexican dances, focusing on the soul-stirring rhythms and colorful movements that embody the heart of Mexican culture. Our performances feature a wide array of regional dances, highlighting the unique customs and stories from various parts of Mexico.

What sets us apart is our commitment to not only honoring the traditional elements of Mexican folklórico but also infusing every performance with passion and soul. We believe in the power of dance to tell a story and evoke deep emotions, making every performance a memorable experience for our audience.

At Mexican Legacy, we serve a diverse community, offering performances for local cultural festivals, international events and more. Our group brings together dancers from ages from fifteen and over, fostering a sense of unity and pride in our Mexican roots while welcoming people from all backgrounds to experience the beauty of Mexican culture.

Through our performances, we aim to inspire a love for traditional dance and offer educational experiences that teach the history, significance, and artistry behind each movement. As we continue to grow, we aspire to expand our reach to share the richness of Mexican folklórico with new audiences.

Meet the Team

  • Artistic Director - Luis Aldo Arcos

    Luis Aldo Arcos Aguilar is a graduate of the Morelense Center of the Arts, where he obtained a degree in the pedagogy of Mexican folk dance. He has taught dance classes at various high school institutions in Mexico. As an artistic director, he has achieved significant success, earning two championships and one second-place title in the magisterial ceremony competitions held in the state of Morelos.

    He has served as the cultural coordinator for the municipality of Jonacatepec and has performed a wide range of dances, including both traditional and mestizo styles, throughout the state of Morelos. Luis Aldo has also participated in the prestigious National Huapango Competition in Pinal de Amoles, Querétaro, and has taken part in the meeting of dance schools in the municipality of Iguala, Guerrero. He contributed as a dancer at the National Pedagogical School of the State of Morelos.

    In addition to his extensive experience in Mexico, Luis Aldo has participated in international folklore courses in Argentina, Colombia, and Peru. Currently, he teaches dance classes and choreographs for Mexican Legacy Dance Company in Toronto, Canada, continuing to share his expertise and passion for Mexican folk dance.
